Terms, Policies & Parental Consent
Last updated: July 17, 2026
1. About our organization
The Children of War Project is a student-led charitable initiative that raises funds to help children affected by war and poverty. Our 501(c)(3) status is pending. Until our tax-exempt status is approved, contributions may not be tax-deductible. We will update this page as soon as our status changes.
2. How we use donations & our transparency promise
100% of the funds we raise are donated to reputable children's charities — currently Voices of Children (Ukraine) and the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation (India). Because we are run entirely by student volunteers, there is no paid overhead.
We are committed to full transparency. CoW will ensure that all funds donated are properly accounted for, and we will publish an annual report on this website summarizing the funds raised and the donations made.
3. Student participation & parental consent
CoW welcomes students to join as Supporters, Activists, or Student Ambassadors. Any student under the age of 18 is required to obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian before enrolling or taking part in any fundraising activity.
By checking the parental-consent box on our sign-up form, the student confirms that a parent or guardian has given permission to participate. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their child's participation and for ensuring that any activity is safe and age-appropriate.
4. Our role & limitation of responsibility
CoW supports students by providing ideas, materials (such as flyers and tips), encouragement, and a friendly community of changemakers. However, CoW does not organize, supervise, or take responsibility for individual students' fundraising activities. Students and their parents or guardians are solely responsible for planning and safely carrying out their own activities, and for complying with all applicable laws, school policies, and local rules. Participation is voluntary and undertaken at the participant's own risk.
5. Safe & honest fundraising
We ask everyone who fundraises with us to:
- Always have adult supervision and never fundraise alone in unsafe or unfamiliar places.
- Be truthful about who we are and how funds are used.
- Follow the rules of their school, community, and any venue where they fundraise.
- Handle any money collected honestly and pass it along promptly.
6. Privacy
Information you provide through our sign-up form (such as name, email, mobile number, school, and grade) is used only to contact and coordinate with participants. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it except as needed to run the program.
7. No tax or legal advice
Nothing on this website is tax or legal advice. Donations are voluntary gifts. While our 501(c)(3) status is pending, we make no representation that contributions are tax-deductible.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
