We're students turning spare coins, old books, used furniture, a little elbow grease, and a touch of creativity into real help for innocent children whose lives have been turned upside down by war and poverty. Every dollar we raise goes to reputed organizations such as Voices of Children (Ukraine) and the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation (India).
100% volunteer-run by high-school students. 501(c)(3) status pending.
When the bombs started falling in Ukraine in 2022, I was a kid watching other kids lose their homes, their schools, and their sense of safety. I felt powerless — I couldn't fly overseas to help — but it occurred to me that I could collect the loose change piling up in my garage, convert it to currency, and make a small donation to organizations that can change a child's life. That simple idea won an award at the 2024 annual gala of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), New Jersey Chapter, and became the core of The Children of War Project.
Today we're a student-led team of changemakers on a simple mission: make it easy, fun, and meaningful for young people to help children affected by war, homelessness, loneliness, and poverty. We collect coins, run garage sales, resell used books, and we're creating digital storybooks — to gather small sums of money. We call it "Small Change for BIG Change," and every penny counts. Please join our movement!
"Many years ago when I was visiting India, the power went off due to the heavy rains. That night my grandma told me that to be useful, instead of cursing the darkness, light a lamp. She then showed me how. It is this spirit of finding a way to be helpful that gave birth to the CoW project. We may not be able to help every kid affected by war, but we will surely help many. We are the lamp!"— Yuvraaj Kumar (Yuvi), Founder & President
